I LOVE these wedding images- probably some of my most favorite ever!

We were a tish worried, because it absolutely poured right before we did these shots! Not what any bride has in mind for her wedding day! But I will say that God turned a not so ideally situation into a beautiful masterpiece! As soon as the rain let up, we went out, and the sky was amazing!! Congrats to Megan and Roy!!

Harrison kids.....

These kiddos were eager to get this photo business over with- and I can't say that I blame them- I'm sure sitting in one spot isn't all that fun for kids when they can see my kids playing inside my house! They did really well though- appeased mom and dad, and smiled nice for me- what more can you ask for?! I think Mom and Dad will be pleasantly surprised with what we were able to get! These kids are sweet- looking forward to their next session!

I know you've probably heard me say this before, but 6 months is my FAVORITE age to photograph! kids at this age are usually not shy yet, easy smilers, most can sit up well if supported, and my favorite..... they grab their toes! I love it- I'm pretty sure there is nothing cuter than a chubby 6 month old grabbing their toes! :) Well here is one adorable 6 month old for your viewing pleasure- she's got it all- the smiles, the sweet baby face, and the toes!! Julia was so sweet and new- she was a perfect little model for me and slept like and angel! She let me move her around, reposition, and still went right back to sleep- Couldn't have asked for more! I hope these photos will remind her family, for years to come, of the tiny details, the way she looked and felt , so new and filled with potential! This was a super fun session for me!! These boys were great, and I really did have a blast photographing them! I'm loving lots of shots form their session, but I'm especially diggin these super hero ones because it's something different than I've done before. These two boys are super cute and super fun, which makes for a "SUPER SESSION"!!! (Cue the booming male voice and thunder) ok- you get it- I like super hero stuff... anyway... you'll understand when you see the shots! Enjoy! :)

Avery really is as sweet as she looks- such a quiet demeanor to this little one! She really studied me a bit before she warmed up, but we did get some adorable grins from her! Maximus..... less than 48hrs new!!!!

Maximus is the NEWEST baby, to date, that I have ever photographed, at less than 48 hrs new! His parents came straight from the hospital- Bless their hearts!! I wasn't sure when I didn't hear back from her about her appointment, whether they would be coming or not- we what do you know, she was in the hospital delivering this cute little guy! Holy Moly! I'm so glad it worked out for them to come- and that Maximus was such a good boy for us. He is welcomed into this world by his mommy, daddy, and 3 big brothers at home! I think the name, Maximus, will suit him- He'll need a big guy name to keep up with 3 bigger brothers! ;) Thanks Mom, Dad, and baby for a great session- and for even making it! Congrats to all! Palmer...6 months

I hadn't seen Palmer since her newborn session- hard to believe 6 months has gone by already! She is one of those few baby's, in my opinion, who although much bigger, still looks so much the same as she did as a newborn! She has the cutest little face was such a happy, smiley girl for our session! She was a joy to photograph- looking forward to her 1 year session!

Easton and Paxton....

Easton and Paxton are typical boys- rough and tumble, busy little guys! I'm a mother to 3 boys (and 1 little girl) so I know how it works with these guys- gotta keep it moving, fun, and let's be honest- plenty of bathroom humor doesn't hurt either! ;) I wasn't sure if we were going to pull off a good shot of the two of them together or not- that's always a challenge with siblings- but we did! In fact, I LOVE the last couple of shots of them together- great smiles, AND it's totally boy! :) They both did really great for me and it was fun to have them in the studio again! This house had been pretty well dominated with girls... until about 18 months ago, when Thomas made his debut at the Clendenon house! I think this boy has shaken things up a bit, and he certainly adds a bit of chaos and fun to the mix! These kids are such a fun group- full of personality and giggles- and I think you can see that in these photos- not just them smiling pretty, but their individual personalities really coming through! We had a great session- it's always a wild time with 4 kids in the studio, but they did fantastic! :)

Let's just say Miss Mahlynn wasn't thrilled about having her photo taken! ;) The reason I tell you this is because sometimes that's just how it goes! I know every parent wants their child to come with a huge smile on their face, strike adorable poses, and be on their best behavior- but let's face it- it usually doesn't go that way for you at home when you take pictures, and there's plenty of times it doesn't go that way here either! Mahlynn is two and like most every two year olds- she's gonna do what she wants, when she wants! I hope this doesn't bother her momma that I'm telling you all this, but I wanted to share the reality of sessions because I'm sure there have been MANY sessions where parents left feeling like they paid good money for a session that didn't go as planned- but SURPRISE!! -Here's something you may not know- what I'm seeing through my lens is not the same thing you are seeing at the back of the room- and Mahlynn's session is a PERFECT example! If I hadn't told you that there had been a lot of tears shed during this session- you'd never know it by our finished result! This is exactly why I'm telling you! :) The next time you have a session and things don't go as planned, don't stress- it happens alot- and in the end, I think you'll be surprised by what we end up with! If you can keep your cool, a lot of times I can find a way to turn things around and get them on board- parents can really set the tone for the session- if you get stressed and crabby, so do they. As hard as it might be- or as frustrated as you might get- if you can stay mellow- it gives me a much better chance to redirect and get what I'm looking for- and Mahlynn's mom was great about letting me take the lead. :)

Thanks Mahlynn for putting up with me and my camera- and thanks to her momma for keeping her cool under pressure! It all turned out great! :)

Miss Addison came to see me to capture her 1 year milestone! I hadn't seen her since her 3 months session- WOW- she had really changed! I've had the chance to photograph these cute kiddos a few times now, and I think this was our most successful session yet! :) Reese was very cooperative- and we got a lot of great smiles from her! Her brother wasn't so keen on the idea this time, but so goes it with 18 month olds- although we did manage to get a few fun ones of him too! I'm so glad their parents were dressed to match, although I don't think they planned on being in any, because those might just be my very favorite shots! As parents, we rarely end up in very many photos with our kids, and yet I think those will be the most cherished images down the road! :)

It was fun to see these little lovelies again- such pretty little girls! And not only are they cute, but very sweet as well. Their daddy better hang on tight, because before he knows it, there will be boys knockin' on the door, prom dresses to buy, and I'm sure many nights of checking his watch waiting to see they are home safely.... Rob and Kristin are expecting their first baby! I'm so excited for the two of them, and happy that i got the chance to document this special time in their lives! These kids did a great job- sometimes 3 or more at young ages can be really challenging- especially to get a nice shot of everyone together- but they did great! I love the color combinations their momma picked out for them together- makes me excited for spring!

Miss Olivia came to see me to mark her 1 year milestone! She was so sweet and yet totally determined to shoot our session with her thumb in her mouth! :) It took some work to get those shots with out that pesky thumb, but we did it! And I think her momma and daddy will be pleasantly surprised with how many great shots we did get!

Little Miss Hayden.... newborn

I've loved working with Sam and Levi- through their engagement photos, their wedding day, and now their first baby! They both are so easy to photograph and fun to work with. We did some evening photos where we caught beautiful light in a lovely setting- AND we did some beautiful more intimate shots of Sam indoors as well. Lots of fun photos to show you from Joey and Briana's big day! I'm going to show you a collection of photos that really show how the day went from beginning to end. The ceremony was shot without flash, which I've found that many churches this year have required- It does affect the photos somewhat if the church isn't very well lit, but I was happy to find that my lighting from the balcony was great! these two had a beautiful day from beginning to end- a lovely ceremony and a really fun reception! I debated whether to post these two sessions together, or separate, and decided on together. Although we did these sessions as two separate sessions, we shot them at the same time- which helped to relax those who weren't so eager to have their photo taken. ;) I think I'm going to go ahead and show you these images not the sequence they were shot, but rather by separation of sessions, together, and then apart again..... It's been so fun to watch Little Miss Brynlie grow! I've been photographing her since her mother was carrying her- and now she's 1! We had a beautiful day- very sunny, which isn't always best for photos, but we got some super cute shots of her! Melissa, her mom, and I met up to do some senior photos on a hot but beautiful day- thankfully, it rained a bit during our session, and we took a little break- met back up, and by then things were perfect the lighting, the colors....Just fantastic. The break worked out really well, because it gave the two of them some time to do some scouting out of the countryside! They found a couple of fabulous spots that I've since photographed several families and kids at - so thanks for your hunting ladies! :) Melissa was a fantastic model- she's got a ton of great shots here! It was fun to see Jaxson again after a year has gone by! Hard to believe he's 2 already, but he is! He and I had some good laughs in the back seat of the pickup on our way to do his photos. :) Jaxson started out strong- smiling and having all sorts of fun, but as our session went on he had had enough- Sooo, I got creative and went a little crazy! :) The pool here in town was almost closing and there really wasn't anyone left, so they were so kind to let us finish up his session with some water fun! I have lots of favorite places to photograph- and most of them are right around Britt- but everything looks different at different times of day, with different kinds of light. I was thankful that Jason and Erin were willing to drive around a bit so we could scout out a few of my favorite local spots for engagement photos since we were taking pics at a different time of day than I usually shoot engagement sessions- Do you recognize a few if these spots? :) We ended up with some fantastic photos and I'm looking forward to their big wedding day this fall!

Meet Koy! He is 3 moths old and this was our first session together. He did great for me especially considering he was quite tired by the time our session came around! I had to laugh because at first I tried several different props to pose him in and he didn't seem to like any of them! haha- We decided maybe it was best to move our session indoors on that hot day and that seemed to lift his spirits a bit! Congratulations to the Eden's on their 50th wedding anniversary!! What a milestone- definitely worth celebrating! The Eden family asked me to come out to the family farm to do a variety of group and individual family shots while everyone was home to celebrate. Kipton just turned 2 so his mom brought him to see me to photograph this milestone! we did a few inside shots and then headed outside into the heat! Kipton was a trooper- I haven't found too many 2 year olds who love to have their picture taken especially in the heat, so I think he did pretty darn good! Jerzy's mom and dad brought her in for her 1 year session - we shot a few inside and decided to take the rest outside. Julie called me to come to a shoot at her place while her grand-kids were all going to be with them for a few days. I agreed to come down that way and it was so fun to see them all again! I've gotten to know this family through photographing one of their daughter's weddings, an extended family shoot, and newborn photos of their newest grand-daughters! Although the weather wasn't favorable ( 90 plus degrees and 40 mile per hour winds!) We still managed to get some great photos! These kiddos did great- their ages are 3, 1, and the twins are 6 months- so we had our work cut our for us in trying to wrangle everyone, but like I said, they really were great! I'm excited to share these fun images from Derek and Shannon's big day! They had a unique location for their wedding, a historical building on Waldorf's campus. It was a fun spot to do photos- and I usually don't include family photos from weddings on the blog, but I may at some point because they turned out so nice outside on the front steps for the building! Meet Layton.... only 3 days new when we did this shoot! He was and is the newest baby I've ever had in the studio and yet he was determined to stay awake during our session! haha- His momma worked hard to get this little guy sleepy and we found that as little and new as he was, he had his own opinion already of what he wanted! :) Apparently he had grown quite attached to this one particular blanket and was quite happy to sleep, but ONLY if he had that blanket! haha so funny for such a little guy! :) I also got a real kick out of this first face he kept making, that I had to include it! :) I think maybe it was a little bright for him near the window! Kolton and his Mommy came to see me for his 2 year photos! We pulled this little guys all over the place on my vintage trike! He wasn't quite tall enough to really pedal- but he loved it! I learned a few things about Kolton while we are playing around- One: he loves anything with wheels Two: He's ball of energy and will keep you on your toes!! Meet Urijah...... this little guy wasn't really all that into having his picture taken on the day we got together- and sometimes that's the way it goes! But I must say that this little man has a sweet little face that'll just melt you! All this seriousness that he had going on0 and I personally love it! the Weiskamp Family...2012

The Weiskamp family and I got together the other weekend to shoot some family shots, and some individual shots of each of their girls. We accomplished all that both inside and outside. We played and had some fun during our session and even built a little hide-away for the girls to have some fun in! I think these playful shots of them in our little "fort" might just be my favorite- it captures the fun of being a kid and reminds me of many a days spent with my own "little sister" back when I was a kid! :) Sisters are the best- I hope these photos remind their parents and each of them of all the fun that they had together! These kids were a hoot! I got such a kick out of their spunky personalities! :) We had some fun together- lots of crazy jumping, teasing them about locking them in my vintage trunk, and creating a large chalk masterpiece for the citizens of Britt to enjoy- at least until the rain came! :) Anyway- we got some excellent photos of the whole family- and had a lot of fun doing too! This crew and I got together last weekend to do some family photos. We tried hard to get this little one to sleep but she was so funny- apparently she never really cared much for her pacifier until our session! We'd get her to sleep, pull the pacifier out of her mouth and =POP= those little eyes would pop right open! haha- she's such a cutie, and could really focus her eyes for being such a little squirt that it didn't really matter that she wasn't sleepy. We ended up with some fabulous shots of this little girl..... so enough talk- let's get to the photos!

Little Evelyn was so alert for being only 7 days old- we struggled to get some of those sleepy shots- but her ability to focus her eyes and hold her little head up was amazing! This is the second time I've had the joy of photographing Miss Abby. Another year later and another year older, she's full of personality and spunk! She wasn't really thrilled with having her picture taken this time, but I think we ended up with some super sweet shots of her anyway- I'm thrilled with these of Abby with her mommy. It's always us mom's behind the camera it seems and so we rarely end up in many photos with our kids- at least in my experience. It was fun for me to get to photograph this growing family- Jess, Adam, and I all graduated high school together, and now are raising children close in ages. This crew braved the wind with me for a portion of of our photo shoot and then we headed indoors for the remainder. Jess and Adam's boys were fun and playful- especially their oldest who was full of personality and ideas! :) I told him he may need to come along on some of my other shoots and show kids how it's done! haha- We had a lot of fun and got some great photos out of our time together!

I spent last weekend photographing Chelsey and Cody's wedding.... we had a great time and things went so smoothly! I love it when everyone is so organized yet laid back about how the day goes- it allows us to have some fun with our photos and makes the day go so nicely! I personally love photographing weddings!! there was a time I actually considered not doing weddings anymore strictly due to the time commitment involved in the whole day and all the time spent editing, but I enjoy weddings so much that I just can't give it up! Plus- my weddings have kind of blown up over the past year and I feel like I'm really finding my niche there. I have to tell you that this church had beautiful light coming through all the stained glass that I actually ended up shooting almost the entire day without a flash at all- with the exception of ceremony procession. We ended up with such a fabulous day- especially since we were supposed to have some scary weather. I have yet to date with all the weddings I've photographed been unable to do outdoor photos- such a blessing! Anyway- enough blabber- onto the photos! Congratulations Chelsey and Cody!! Enjoy!

Little Miss Avery came to see me for her "newborn" photos- we weren't able to get these shots sooner due to some health complications for this pretty girl, but she's doing well now and is happy at home! :) Avery was the smallest baby to date that I've ever photographed! I'm pretty sure she weighed under 5 lbs at birth, and is still quite tiny, but she's surprisingly strong- I'd gently place her arm where I wanted it, and she's tug it right back! Her little brothers popped in at the very end of our session to do a shot of all three of them- they adore her and for a couple of rough and tough boys, they were very sweet with her too! :) Thank you little Avery for being so cooperative - and to your mommy for bringing you in! :) Enjoy!

Mark and Sherry...Married!

Mark and Sherry are married!! :) I'm so glad that I was able to be there for their big day- they had a small, intimate, and absolutely lovely wedding! Their whole event was done in one large, beautifully decorated room. Following the ceremony, guests went to the foyer for coffee and punch as the room was re-arranged for the dessert reception. Not only were the desserts AMAZING, but Mark and Sherry served each one of their guests. ( Which I thought was so cool of them to do!) They had a great band that entertained as everyone enjoyed great food and conversation. Because this was a late wedding- beginning at 7pm- by the time we wrapped things up and headed to another location for bride and groom photos, it was nearly 11pm and very dark out....the original location we chose was to have all the trees lit up, but unfortunately by the time we got there it wasn't so. Here's where the importance, as a photographer, of knowing your location comes in- I went to this spot the night before to scope things out and I'm sooo glad I did! Although the trees weren't lit up, and the lighting was challenging, there was this historical building there that had wonderful arches that made for some beautiful images! Thank you Mark and Sherry for allowing me to capture memories from your special day-

Ben and Mindi.... Engaged!

This session was really fun for me- Mindi and Ben live on a farm with some great buildings and open areas- totally up my alley! And even better.... they had an old truck! LOVE IT!!!!! I'm a huge fan of vintage finds and when you've got a truck like this it makes a session so fun! During this engagement session we went form cold and rainy to warm and sunny all in a little over an hour! I'm thrilled with these images, and I'm looking forward to their big day this fall! I have to tell you that I'm soooo thankful to be shooting outside again!! Don't get me wrong- I love my studio space, and I've really been having fun in there through these past winter months, but it's so good to be outside!

I'm excited for Clay and Cassie's upcoming wedding- we had a lot of fun together this past Saturday! Are they are such a good lookin couple- it make these photos easy! :) These two ventured out into the rain and cold with me to do this shoot- and thankfully, we were able to avoid the worst of it. The Miller Twins... 4 months

Ive been waiting quite some time to do this blog post, however, oddly enough, timing wise it's almost right on time! Let me explain: 2 years ago I photographed Tami and Brent's wedding- and then this past summer I did session with their extended family which lead to us talking about maternity and newborn photos as they had recently found out they were expecting twins! I was thrilled to get to have the chance to do these photos for them and was anxiously thinking about February and how fun it would be to photograph tiny newborn twin girls! :) Here's where the story takes a different direction- Alexia and Andrea were welcomed into this world by their loving parents not in February as planned, but in November!! yes- they were born at 26weeks! Alexia weighed in at barely over 2lbs and Andrea weighed 1 lb 12 oz!! Needless to say, we never did pregnancy photos, we never really did "newborn" photos either. These precious babies have spent up until now in the hospital with their mom and dad patiently waiting for them to be able to come home- And now, by the grace of God, they are both home!! The part that amazes me even more so, is that neither of them have ANY ongoing health complications! Talk about 2 miracle babies!! These sweet little girls are 4 months old and Alexia now weighs 8lbs and Andrea weighs 8 lbs 10 oz.... so they've grown a ton in the past four months! I am thrilled that I did get to photograph little twin girls, and even happier to get to be a part of capturing more special moments of this growing family! I look forward to watching these girls grow from behind the camera! :)

Meet Brayden- 6wks

This little guy did surprisingly well- at 6 weeks old, this can be a little challenging typically. I usually like to photograph "newborns" at about 10 days or earlier, but we were able to get some sweet sleeping shots as well as a many adorable smiles out of him! I was amazed at how wide eyed and smiley he was- 6 weeks seems so early to be making true eye contact and smiling- but that's exactly what he was doing! So cute! This sweet little guy was a treat- thank you Brayden for a wonderful first photo shoot! Enjoy!!

Pretty in Pink... the Jensen Girls

These 3 little beauties were fun, lively, and oh-so- pretty in pink!

We had some fun in the studio and I did my best to capture some

of their individual personalities and the dynamics of sisters!

As fun as it is for me to photograph little ones,

I know there are moments of stress in it for parents-

Children don't always want to follow my directions or their parents!

I find that if we let them play a little and think outside the box-

we usually end up with something much more fun than originally planned!

I'm loving the sweet photos of the middle sister here with the shopping cart-

totally unplanned, but turned out so cute without the fight and tears that would

have happened had we pushed too hard....

so, my point is, that photos should be fun for everyone,

and if it's not, then were not going to end up with the photos you hoped for!

Sometimes it's best to just go with the flow and let kids be kids-

whether its perfectly posed, or dancing around!

I enjoyed this session and these sweet girls, and I'm thankful to their mom

for being laid back and allowing her girls to be themselves! Enjoy!

We ended up waiting until late in the year to do Holly's senior photos, but I think we ended up with the best outcome because of it! Who knew it would be nearly 80 degrees in March?!?! A Morning of Exploring....

On Friday morning I spent some time exploring a new location I found with the two Collins kids. We had a lot of fun! We built a fort, explored the barn, and found a fabulous tractor that had been there for many years- a tree had even grown right up through it! I always enjoy spending time with these two kids- their momma is a very dear friend of mine- and it was fun to capture some sweet moment of childhood magic from behind the camera. I hope these images will remind them someday of all the fun they had together as kids.... and I hope that it reminds YOU of fun filled memories from your own childhood! :) Enjoy!

A Picnic in March!

It was soooo beautiful out today, it hit nearly 80 degrees in March! We just couldn't stay inside on a day like today, so I took my kids out on an adventure! My oldest son was convinced that we might get to see some wild animals. My middle son was more interested in what we would be having for snacks than anything else. Then there's my my youngest- and she's pretty much the only one who's willing to cooperate with me when I get my camera out! I did however capture some magical shots of the three of them playing in the set up we created! - I was playing with some different settings on my camera, and to be honest, they're not as crisp as I would have liked them to be, but they're cute non the less! I hope you enjoy them too!

This was my 1st wedding of 2012, and we kicked it off right! This was a fun filled night of dancing and celebrating!We didn't do outdoor photos- like I typically do for most weddings- due to the cold and wind, but I was able to spend more time getting some great candid shots of everyone! I really enjoyed my time with Pat, Meredith, and their whole wedding party- This crew knows how to have fun! I can't get over this guy- so sweet and not so tiny!

He was a big boy weighing in at over 10 lbs at birth!

It's amazing to me how much older he seemed than 8 days-

he was a peach to work with, not very sleepy for

8 days , but regardless, a peach! :)

I LOVE all that dark hair too!

I'm so glad I got to meet this sweet guy!

Caden, Day 6...... Cute, cuddly, sleepy, and perhaps my easiest newborn ever to photograph! Sabin Family

I've been so excited to show all of you out there these photos! I got to spend a fun day with the Sabin family last weekend- It was Paul's 76th birthday, and his wife, children and grandchildren were there to celebrate! We met up in Manly first and started at the retired train that's there, the Arthur C. Sabin . Named after Paul's father, this train has a lot of sentimental value for the Sabin family- and it made for some really great photos!

We then headed to the Lutheran Church, there in Manly, where Paul and Margaret were married- they are celebrating 56 years of marriage this year! I love that we were able to do some photos outside the church

Next we headed to East Park to get some family photos against the natural rock walls there- and we lucked out that there was still some pretty snow there even with the wonderful sunshine and warmer temps!

After our fun at the park, everyone was ready for some ice cream!

We made our way over to Birdsall's for some yummy treats and candid photo moments!

After everyone had their fill of ice cream, we headed back to Margaret and Paul's home. There I caught a glimpse of what their typical time together looks like- lots of laughter and affection. I really enjoyed getting to spend the day with this family- they're a fun group!

I have to add that these two really inspired and encouraged me- It's rare to see couples make it 56 years! Even after only an afternoon with them, you could see in their eyes how much they still love each other after so many years- Beautiful.... If these make you tear up just a little, then were in the same boat! :) I want to thank the Sabin Family for letting me a part of a very special day- and a beautiful moment in time!

So I'm trying out blog post #2 on here- I think it might be more user friendly

than my previous blog page and hopefully more convenient for everyone to

have it all in one spot. Unfortunately I have yet to figure out how to post some

of my previous posts from there to here, but I'm hoping that wont matter.

Anyway, on to the photos!!....

Katie, as I mentioned in one of my previous posts, makes some awesome

crocheted things! She's made me quite a few baby items now for my studio

and in exchange, I did some work for her! If you are a parent to several

children, then you know how challenging it can be to even get one shot

of everyone smiling- or looking in the same direction for that matter! :)

But we did it- and really got some cute ones too, I think!

Her kids were great to work, and I'm looking forward to photographing

her crew again in the future! Thanks Katie and kids for a great session!
